PM rules out military action in Karachi

Karachi: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday ruled out a military action to restore peace in Karachi, saying the political parties had agreed to follow a code of conduct to resolve disputes. He said this while addressing a press conference at the Chief Minister’s House on Saturday after the signing of a code of conduct and presiding a high-level meeting to review the law and order situation and to chalk out a strategy to implement the code of conduct agreed upon by the coalition parties — the PPP, MQM and ANP. The prime minister said that the Sindh government would be responsible for enforcing the code of conduct while the federal government would be providing every possible assistance.
