Drug peddlers clash in Dalmia

A police man and a naval personnel suffered bullet wounds during a clash between two groups of drug dealers in Aziz Bhatti police limits on Thursday.

The drug peddlers, belonging to Haji Aslam group and Kalo Kirant group, started firing at each other and threw hand grenades during the attack in Shanti Nagar situated in Aziz Bhatti police jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies rushed to the spot and tried to control the situation. During the cross fire between the police and criminals, Head Constable Abid received a bullet wound. He was rushed to the Aga Khan University Hospital for treatment. A naval personnel, Iftikhar, who was performing his duty at the Naval Colony Main Gate, also received a bullet. The law enforcement agencies later entered the area and tried to arrest the culprits.

After the incident, the area residents blocked Dalmia Road. They burnt tyres and demanded the arrest of the drug dealers.

It is worth mentioning that on June 24 this year, the residents of Shanti Nagar protested outside the Sindh Governor House regarding the culprits in their area. On June 25, an operation was conducted in the area by the law enforcement agencies, and 30 suspects were picked up.
