100 acres land being given to Masroor Cantt Board

A proposal has been moved to transfer over 100 acres of residential and commercial land of Hawksbay from the Lyari Development Authority (LDA) by forming a new Masroor Cantonment Board.

According to the sources, besides the Naval Colony and Journalists Colony, this land, which is situated at the coastal strip, also includes commercial land which has been allocated for the construction of five-star hotels of international standard, clubs, shopping malls and the residential schemes.

The sources said that the purpose of forming new cantonment board on the name of Masroor Cantonment Board is to stop irregular construction on the coastal stripe, which includes godown of chemicals and factories, which are making the atmosphere of the Karachi ugly.

The sources further said that Minora Cantonment Board could be given the possession of the land before at the earlier stage afterwards it might be transferred to Masroor Cantonment Board to stop rapid irregular construction.

After reviewing the situation emerging from the filling of under construction low lying areas with soil taken from uncultivated land including the Journalist Colony and Government Officers Colony through trucks and the poor performance of Liyari Development Authority, the officials have sent a report to Military Land Department.

According to the sources, the Military Land Department has been requested to provide protection to the Naval Colony and vicinity of uncultivated land of PF Masroor and to halt the theft of soil and sand from there.
